About the Event
Featuring Leo Cardozo on mandolin and Henry Linarez on cuatro, with special guest Hernan Matute on double bass.
Sessions is a project started by Henry Linarez and Leo Cardozo, with the intention of representing Venezuela at the Pulse and Pick Music Festival in La Coruña Spain, where they were awarded as best musical group in 2013 and 2014 consecutively. Sessions is a group that has the purpose of promoting Venezuelan traditional music, as well as original music in a novel and beautiful way to the ears of every music lover. Henry Linarez, one of the best exponents of the Cuatro in Venezuela, individually, has played in more than 30 countries around the world and performed with important musical groups in Venezuela with international impact.
Hernan Matute, a great master of the double bass, has been the first contrabassist of the Miami Symphony Orchestra since 2001, and has participated in many recordings with different artists in the world. He was Professor of Music Appreciation at Florida International University and currently Professor of String Music and Choir at Saint John the Apostle Catholic School in Miami.
Leo Cardozo, also from Venezuela, but now a local in South Bend, is also a great exponent of the mandolin in Venezuela where he participated with recognized artists of the country, and recorded in several productions as a guest. Leo participated in the Jazz Festival held in Barquisimeto Venezuela, where he won three consecutive times to participate in composition and jazz seminars in Brazil and Spain, and along with Henry Linarez was awarded twice as the best group in the music festival in La Coruña Spain. He has 5 recordings of Sessions with Henry Linarez. Sessions is in the middle of recording the next album.
