About the Event
The band’s goal is to play straight-ahead jazz standards with the feel, vibe, accuracy, and detail reminiscent of their favorite legendary players and recordings. Featuring Doug Stone on saxophone, Bob Sneider on guitar, Mike Melito on drums, and Danny Ziemann on bass.
Saxophonist Doug Stone spent several years living in Chicago and playing with many of the Midwest’s best jazz musicians. He currently teaches jazz at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and is involved in the New Orleans jazz scene. From 2009 to 2018 Doug lived in Rochester, New York, where he was part of the legendary New York “Upstate Burn” jazz scene. Doug is spending April touring the Midwest with the quartet
Guitarist Bob Sneider teaches at the Eastman School of Music, and is also a well-known name among East Coast jazz players.
Drummer Mike Melito’s first gigs at the age of 16 were with upstate New York greats Joe Locke and Joe Romano. Mike’s feel is impeccable and he also has a vast knowledge of jazz history.
Award winning bassist Danny Ziemann plays in a wide variety of western New York jazz groups and has also toured the world with swing bands including the Gordon Webster Orchestra.
