The New Origin Trio, formed by Christophe Rocher, Harvey Sorgen and Joe Fonda, had recorded a little less than a year ago, in New York, the few tracks that make up this first eponymous album. Between compositions and improvisations, this first opus is the result of a crossbreeding of jazz, at the confluence of genres, singular and unique among others. With this new recording and concerts in the USA and Europe, the three composers/improvisers add up their stories, their explosive personalities.
On the one hand Christophe Rocher, at the head of the Nautilis Ensemble, a seasoned musician who has had the opportunity to play with the greatest, and who participates in international projects such as ARCH or « The Bridge ».
On the other, two internationally known American musicians, Joe Fonda and Harvey Sorgen. They have collaborated withWadada Leo Smith, Anthony Braxton, Barry Altchul, Dave Douglas, Oliver Lake, Hot Tuna, Brenda Bufalino, Karl Berger, Ahmad Jamal and many others.
Joe Fonda:
"There is more to creative mastership than the surface of satisfaction and political certainty. The music of Joe Fonda is part of a living tradition of belief and dedication. Future historians will be surprised at the breadth of Mr. Fonda's offerings. This is a real virtuoso and composer of the highest order."
- Anthony Braxton, 1996

"In sound, motion and beauty….so to lays the groundwork for truth. All that I am becomes a part of my own way of communication. In striving for a lifestyle unfettered by my own limitations, I am eternally grateful to have created honest music with some of the greatest artists of our time. It’s almost like I have to pinch myself sometimes to not forget how fortunate I am to have the love of my family, and the spirit to be open to what may appear to be right in front of me!"
Christophe Rocher:
Its activities are mainly occupied by the research of the musical language, by the totally improvised music, and by the jazz of today. Activist of the contemporary music scene, he seeks to invent music, to create a link between beings to better invent music together, to create music above all as a social object then as a territory for a form of magic. He has played over time in many jazz, improvised music, contemporary music, or electronic projects alongside many musicians: Joëlle Léandre, Erwan Keravec, Paul Rogers, Hasse Poulsen, Claude Tchamitchian, Gualtierro Dazzi, Carlo Rizzo, Daunik Lazro, Assif Tsahar, Elise Caron, Hamid Drake, Jacques Pellen, Jacques Di Donato, Michel Doneda, Christophe Lavergne, Jean Morière, Monique Lucas, Bernard Lubat, Christofer Bjurström, Yuri Yaremtchuk, Yukiko Nakamura, Pascale Labbé, Edward Perraud, Nicolas Mahieux, Jean-Luc Landsweert, Olivier Benoit, Naab, Géraldine Keller, Roger Turner, Jean-Philippe Morel, Jeb Bishop, Rob Mazurek, Nicole Mitchell, Sylvain Thévenard, Jo Fonda, and numerous musicians from the AACM of Chicago, and many others.
Born in Clichy in 1967, he has always had a passion for all types of music. Having started musical practice at the age of 5, he considers the clarinet as a field of research and experimentation since the beginning of his apprenticeship. He followed a classical course at the Conservatoire de Musique de Clichy, alongside his studies in Artificial Intelligence Engineering until 1992. He trained with "masters" such as Jacques Di Donato, Steve Coleman, Fabrizio Cassol. He created the Penn ar Jazz association in 1997 and ensured its artistic direction until 2009.
Today, Christophe is in charge of the artistic council of the Ensemble Nautilis. He plays within the device "The Bridge" created by Alexandre Pierrepont (exchange between French and American musicians) and in many musical creations in France and abroad.
Passionate about science, he explores the territories of research alongside, for example, Alexandre Pierrepont and Nicolas Farrugia with the aim of creating bridges between science and music.
