Pag-ibig ko," or "my love" in Tagalog, is the name of the new recording from the saxophone/harp pair of Matthew Muñeses and Riza Printup. Having discovered the beauty and versatility of kundiman (Filipino love songs) during research for his previous record, Muñeses wanted to further explore this song form. For this project, he wanted to involve different instrumentations than his typical quintet, and the first formation he settled on was a harp duo. He knew precisely who to work with, having met Printup roughly a decade prior during a Filipino jazz event in California. For this performance, they will be joined by longtime friends and collaborators Samuel Peters and Neil Hemphill to fill out the band.
