The quartet will be presenting Leon Lewis-Nicol Presser Award project; Mending the gap between African Diaspora musical culture by reimaging Thelonious Monk’s Music Through the Lenses of Sierra Leonean Music & Culture. The goal of this project is to educate or remind our audience about the importance of Thelonious Monk and Sierra Leone’s history/culture. This project also seeks to use these arrangements as a tool to mend the gap between African diasporas.
