Informed by an array of styles including avant-garde jazz, post-bop, and indie rock, the Gabriel Heinemann Trio’s debut album, “After a Break”, incorporates improvisation, open-form composition, and melodic interplay into each song. Collaborators Owen Frankel and Jeremy McCabe, fellow Oberlin peers with a shared vision of genre-blending improvisation, bring the music to life with spontaneous interpretation and dynamic interaction. In addition to Heinemann’s originals, this trio also performs compositions by Frankel, and select jazz standards as well.
