A tribute to the music of saxophonist Stan Getz will be presented by the Don Lerman Quartet. Born in 1927 in Philadelphia and raised in New York city, Stan joined Jack Teagarden's band at the age of 16 and also played with Lionel Hampton, Benny Goodman, Jimmy Dorsey, and Stan Kenton. His years as a member of Woody Herman's "Second Herd" helped launch his career as soloist and leader. With Lester Young as a major influence on his playing, Getz became "one of the all-time great tenor saxophonists" according to jazz writer Scott Yanow.
